Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). KALI - 2 years old, 45 pounds, house trained ( unless left alive too long), friendly, playful, dog tolerant Kali arrived at VBACAC with her canine partner who has already been adopted!l so it’s Kali’s turn now! She’s active and fun, loves to play and go for walks. She is friendly and playful towards children and other respectful dogs. She can be trusted limited to a room when left alone but might have an accident if she’s left too long. Kali has a great warm smile, brown brindle fur and white on her paws and chest. This sweet and loving girl is waiting to meet you and start a new life! She’s currently in our medium dog adoption kennel. We are open daily 12-5 pm and located at 341 S Birdneck Road.

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
