Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Location: NH Meet Carson! Carson is a sweet and goofy guy who just loves to play and be near people. He is around 4 months old, about 20 pounds and has the cutest floppy hound dog ears! His favorite things are to accompany his foster family on chores around the farm, play with his foster mates and chew on toys. He has been exposed to farm animals, cats, dogs, children and strangers on a regular basis and would make a wonderful pet for most any home. Carson is looking for an active adopter who wants to spend a lot of time with their dog. He is a quick learner, is eager to please and thrives on human attention. He will shine whether given a person to be his one and only, or a kid or two to play and snuggle with! He is going through all the normal “puppy stuff”, but is making great potty and crate training progress. Carson is a bit of a goofball; he does get excited and tends to jump, so savvy children/proper boundaries will ensure fun is had by all! He is truly a gem and would be a great fit for an active home, including those new to cattle dogs. Carson is up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and will be adopted with a neuter contract. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
