But with time, support and friends by her side, she’s learned that big feelings can lead to big fun — especially when her favorite humans are involved! Despite her initial fear, Louisa enjoys meeting new people and would thrive in a home that’s social and active. She would love to work toward her dream of being everyone’s best friend! When it comes to other dogs, she prefers a slower pace. Quick movements and rough playstyles can spook her, so she’d do best with canine friends who match her mellow vibe. Leisurely strolls with calm, polite pups are more her speed. Louisa is still building confidence with new experiences, like navigating stairs, and would benefit from a patient adopter who’s ready to support her with gentle encouragement — and lots of emotional support scratches! She’s motivated by both people and other dogs, which has been a huge help in building her confidence. She has practiced spending time in both the car and her crate, though a little extra TLC in those areas will help her continue to grow. If you’re looking for a sweet, social butterfly who just needs a little time to fully step into herself, followed by plenty of belly rubs and couch cuddles, Louisa might be your paw-fect match. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
