Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Shepherd (long coat). Meet Titan – a 1.5-year-old Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix with brains, energy, and a heart full of second chances. This handsome guy is sharp as a tack and always ready for action! Titan was adopted from us last year but recently turned up as a stray at another local shelter. Sadly, no one came forward to claim him, so now he’s back with us and ready to find his true forever home. He’s an energetic goofball with a big brain—just waiting for someone to channel that smarts into fun and positive training. Titan plays well with other dogs and even lived with cats in his previous home. He’d thrive in an active household with sturdy, dog-savvy people who can keep up with his zest for life. If you're looking for a loyal sidekick who’s equal parts clever and cuddly, Titan just might be your guy.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
