Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Foster or Forever Home Wanted: Meet Smitty! Smitty came to the shelter as a stray on May 23rd with a left leg injury. X-rays confirmed a fracture that required orthopedic surgery, and after about four months of crate rest, he’s finally been able to start enjoying short walks to help rebuild his strength and muscle. Now 10 months old, Smitty is a resilient, sweet, and affectionate pup. He was a shelter favorite, and we have no doubt he’ll quickly become a volunteer favorite too. He’s great with people, eager to romp and play, and already seems to know how to sit and stay. With a family to continue his training and guide him through some basic obedience, he’s sure to shine. Because he’s been on crate rest for much of his young life, we’re still getting to know his full personality—so check back soon for updates as we learn more about this special boy!
