She is 10 months old and is mostly grown weighing around 50 pounds. She is expected to remain a medium sized dog of under 60 pounds when she if fully grown. Diamond is embarking on the next phase of her life and that will be with her forever family. She is a mixed breed gal and like her name, she might have many different facets of breeds in her as well. However, we know this girl has charisma and with her wonderful enthusiasm for life, this girl is bound to make a lasting impression. Diamond walks well on a leash. She will be a dream to walk around the neighborhood or a brisk stroll through the park. She will love the opportunity to meet other dogs and children as well. She has a growing list of friends and that is just the way she likes it. She has not had the opportunity to meet a cat since coming into rescue so at this time, that relationship remains unknown. A playful girl like Diamond will fit into pretty much any social environment. She will do great in the house with toys to play with and chew on. She is learning her house and crate training, so practice is the winning route to get to her end goal. Diamond will appreciate the assistance of her family to help her along the way. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
