Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Location: GA Ryder is a very loving, low energy Red Cattle dog mix, who absolutely loves adventures but also lives for quiet moments on the couch. He has the best manners inside our home, and never tries to jump on the couch unless invited to do so. He doesn’t jump on people and does so well on a leash. He loves playing with toys and he also absolutely loves watermelon for a summer treat! This beautiful boy has a lot of love to offer and is waiting so patiently for his family to find him and give him a chance! Please consider adopting this beautiful boy! Ryder is currently located in Trenton, GA but fosters can help with out of state transport! He is 2 years old, weighs 25lbs, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, currently on a monthly heartworm preventative, great with other dogs but has not been cat tested. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
