Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (medium coat). Annika is a medium size sweetheart. Energy level is medium. She is able to settle down nicely but still young so good for her to have some play running around time. Will need some adjustment time to get used to a new home and new people. She has done great with big and small dogs in the foster home. She is potty trained and will whine when needs to go out. She likes to chew on toys but is still a puppy so will need help on what's a toy and what isn't. She does enjoy fetch with a ball. Is very treat motivated. She has been trained to sit and be more confident on leash but she is still unsure so a home with a backyard would be ideal for her. Fostered in home without kids or cats so unknown how she will be around them but she wants to please so no reason to believe there would be an issue. She is crated when we are out of house and will come and go in. Once routine is set and is learned, she is quiet throughout the night. Has done good in car. If you would like to meet me, please reach out to my foster mom at Lantana.wadegmail

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
