Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (long coat). Rosalie (TX) is a female shepherd mix rescued in Texas. Our veterinary partner estimates that she is 7 yrs old at the time of intake in June2025. This poor girl was found on the streets, nearly dead, annorexic, starving. Luckily RDR got to her and she is healing up wonderfully. She is eating and gaining her strength back. She is getting ready to head to the Northeast where her forver family can show her she is truly loved! Please apply online to adopt Rosalie (TX) at .rescuedogsrocknyc. RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue. All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
