Dog Breed: Australian Shepherd (long coat). Adoption Fee: 300. *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Rooster just turned 11 years old June 12, but he is spry for his age! He loves to lay on the couch and stare at his person. He is a rescue from a breeder, so is experiencing lots of things for the first time but he is calm and intelligent and is going with the flow with each new thing. He loves pets, and he rides well in the car. An ideal companion as he loves to be near you. Rooster loves to be outside, and following my other dogs around our fenced-in back yard. He has free range of the house when I am home, including when I'm asleep and he does great. I've been crating him when I go to work, and though he'll do it his least favorite part of the day is going back in the kennel. He has never had an accident in his kennel or in the house. Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package!
