Description

Dog Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat). Tontu is a very sweet pup who loves to play hard with the adults and kids in the house and his sister and then snuggle and nap. His favorite game is tug o war with the rope toy. Like most pups his age, he'll chew on anything he finds around but will take a toy instead when offered - consider it inspiration to keep the house tidy! Tonto's still at that stage where he may not notice he has to pee in time to signal to go out, so frequent positive potty breaks will be needed until he's developed that understanding a bit more. He's good about pooping only outside. Tontu and his sister have been sleeping well from about 9pm to 5:30am in a crate without accidents. He's been eating next to his sister and has not shown any resource guarding behaviors. His fosters report that he's been a delight to have and the kids really love him and he seems to love their attention just as much. Come scoop this boy up and help him develop into your dream companion! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
