Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Meet Squidward, a puppy so sweet that even his namesake would crack a smile! At just under seven months old, Squidward is a snuggly, silly, soft-eyed sweetheart, and well... —just look at that precious face! While we don’t know much about his early days (he was found at PAWS along with his SpongeBob-themed siblings), this goofy boy is already proving that he’s meant to be someone’s loyal, loving sidekick. Unlike the original Squidward, this pup is all tail wags, cuddles, and kisses. He’s got that undeniable “little brother energy,” and adores spending time with other dogs. He’s currently in foster care with two canine buddies that he loves to play and nap with, and also has experience living peacefully with dog-savvy cats. Squidward is extra special—not just because of his sparkling personality—but because he was born with a congenital heart defect that required specialty surgery. He’s been such a brave little trooper through it all, from lots of diagnostics to his recent corrective procedure, and he continues to take it all in stride. Squidward will next checkup is in a few months to confirm that things were successful, and he’s also looking for an adopter who's comfortable with continuing his care with the support of a full-service vet (and possibly a cardiologist, if needed). He’ll thrive in a home with a friendly resident dog to show him the ropes and help him gain confidence as he continues through his puppyhood. Squidward loves to be close to his people and his dog pals—all about that cozy companionship life, with everyone. If you're looking for a pup who’s ready to liven up your life, Squidward is ready to wiggle his way into your Krusty Krew! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
