Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Boo Boo is a cute little 4-6 year old terrier mix weighing in at only 8 lbs. He was surrendered in very poor condition, no hair and very fearful, but has thrived in his foster home. He's now sporting a healthy coat and his skin is soft and hydrated. Boo Boo is looking for someone that would love a velcro dog. He would do best with someone that is home, or with him, more than not. He is fine when left alone, but it's not his preference. This little boy loves to be carried around. He is both dog and cat friendly, and mostly house trained. He is paper trained. Boo is fine in a crate but would prefer to sleep with his human. He would welcome a dog sibling his size or a little larger to wrestle with and give him confidence, but not required. Because Boo Boo is fearful, he would do best in a secure fenced in yard and should never be outside unsupervised. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
