Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Rescued just hours before she was scheduled for euthenasia, this lively young girl is doing great in her foster home. After just one day, she is so happy for her new beginnings, her eyes have lite up with joy! Jiggi is very attentive and knows sit, off and down, so she has a good start on obedience training, although duration will need to be worked on. She is great with other dogs and already shows that she loves jumping into the water! Brand new to MAD, stay tuned for updates! We are an official 501c3 organization that does not have a physical location. Our home address is in Michigan, however, the majority of our dogs are not located in Michigan. The physical location of each our our dogs is posted with the name of the pet or in the title area. If you are within 4 hours of the pet, please be prepared to pick the pet up. We do provide transport assistance up to 350 miles. The applicant must drive the remainder of the distance of the transport. The basic information that we have available is in our posting, but sometimes fosters and adoption counselors will post updates on the MAD Rescue Facebook page as well, .facebook/groups/malinoisanddutchshepherdrescueinc. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
