Description
Dog Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Hi there! My name is Stan, and I’m a sweet Black Lab mix weighing in at about 55 lbs with the silly Lab energy and stance. I’ve been hanging out at the shelter in Mississippi for the past three years until I was brought up north, now waiting for my forever home. But don’t let that fool you—I’ve got the warmest, golden brown eyes and a heart full of kindness. I’ve been sharing a kennel with my best bud, Happy, and we’ve become quite the duo. I definitely lean on him more and get anxious when he's not around. We thrive best together, bringing double the love and joy into your home. The folks at the shelter and previous fosters say I’m a very good boy, and I absolutely LOVE people. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to get some special attention when someone takes me out to play. I’m affectionate and ready to shower you with love. I’ve got great energy and am always up for some fun, but a lower stimulation home would be best. I can be a little jumpy and exuberant (more so than Happy for sure) as we've never really lived in a home before. Some training might do us some good, along with a patient family willing to give us a chance at a real life filled with love. A quiet home with older kids would probably be best, as I'm big and strong, not always knowing my own strength. If you’re looking for a loyal pair with gentle spirit, we are your guys. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
