Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $375. Meet Squidward, a sweet and spunky 9-year-old, 12 lb Yorkie mix with a big personality and lots of love to give! When he came to our rescue, he had lots of healing to go through. He’s a cuddly, loyal companion who thrives on bonding closely with his person—ideally someone home most of the day, like a calm, retired individual or couple. Squidward enjoys leisurely walks and quiet time, but he’ll need a home without cats and someone who understands his protective nature around food and toys. If you’re looking for a fearless little friend to share your days with, Squidward is ready to be your shadow! Age: 9 years old Breed: Yorkie Mix Weight: 12 lbs Kid-friendly: Would do best with older, considerate children Dogs: Yes, does well with other dogs in the home Cats: No Crate trained: Yes Potty trained: Yes Health concerns: Allergic to Chicken, switched diet and is doing well. Current medications & estimated costs: Benadryl Adoption fee: $375 As a rescue, we provide the care, procedures and testing that is available to us. Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable). At times, adopters will be responsible for procedures not completed in rescue (dentals, bloodwork, etc.) Your new dog will receive their rabies and distemper vaccine. $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies and distemper) HW test and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal. Grey Face Rescue does not adopt outside of Minnesota for now. We apologize for the inconvenience. We do not adopt animals to families whose current pets are not up-to-date on vaccinations or not altered. Exceptions may be made for medical reasons as stated by a veterinarian and we will require proof of that recommendation. Thank you for understanding our mission to reduce overpopulation. Once you submit your application, our adoption manager will be in touch, so please check your spam folder if you do not see something from us within 7-10 days. Thank you again for your interest in a Grey Face senior. We appreciate your support!

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
