Dog Breed: Schnauzer (short coat). Adoption Fee: $375. Meet Grinch, a 12-year-old, 25 lb Schnauzer with a heart full of love and snuggles to give. This sweet senior enjoys short walks, cozy laps, and exploring the backyard between naps. He thrives in a home where he can be part of the routine, go for car rides, and never feel left out. Grinch is the perfect companion for anyone looking for a gentle, low-key best friend that will include him in their daily lives. Age: 12 year old Breed: Schnauzer Weight: 25 lbs Kid-friendly: He loves everyone Dogs:Yes Cats: Not sure, but believe he would be great Crate trained: Yes Potty trained: Yes, when sticking to a schedule Health concerns: Currently on thyroid medication daily. Current medications & estimated costs: Thyroid medication Adoption fee: $375 As a rescue, we provide the care, procedures and testing that is available to us. Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable). At times, adopters will be responsible for procedures not completed in rescue (dentals, bloodwork, etc.) Your new dog will receive their rabies and distemper vaccine. $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies and distemper) HW test and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal. Grey Face Rescue does not adopt outside of Minnesota for now. We apologize for the inconvenience. We do not adopt animals to families whose current pets are not up-to-date on vaccinations or not altered. Exceptions may be made for medical reasons as stated by a veterinarian and we will require proof of that recommendation. Thank you for understanding our mission to reduce overpopulation. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
