Description
Dog Breed: Manchester Terrier. Fiona is a 6 year old Toy Manchester Terrier and weighs 11 1/2 pounds. This is a quiet, sweet little lady that is great with other dogs and has no issues with strangers. We don't know if she has been around children but older, respectful ones should be fine. We are working on crate training here at the rescue and that should be continued in her new home to finish house training. Her daddy became ill and could not longer care for her so that is why she is with us. She should do well with most any family. Manchester Terriers are know for their intelligence and complete loyalty to their people. She is also alert and prances around like a dignified little lady and you can't help but love her. Fiona is spayed, microchipped and current on shots and preventions. If you are interested in visiting or adopting, please submit our application at Richardsonrescue. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
