Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 550. Meet Junebug – A Tiny Pup with a Big Personality! Born around March 22, 2025, little Junebug may weigh just 5 pounds, but she’s already proving she’s got a huge heart and an even bigger brain. This smart, sassy girl has already learned sit, lay down, spin in a circle, stand on her back legs, and how to calmly wait in her puppy pen—all in just a few days! She’s working on her potty training, using pads when alone and going outside with encouragement. At night, she happily curls up in her crate surrounded by her entire collection of toys (yes, even her favorite bone comes to bed). Junebug was born deaf, but you’d never know it by the way she’s thriving. She picks up hand signals incredibly fast and responds beautifully to structure and routine. With the right guidance, she's unstoppable. She enjoys the company of other dogs—even those 10 times her size!—but would also do well as an only pup since she’s great at entertaining herself with toys. She's also cat-friendly and sleeps through the night like a champ. Because she’s tiny and still has those sharp little puppy teeth, we think she’d do best in a home with kids 8 and up. If you’re looking for a bright, lovable pup who will amaze you every day, Junebug might just be your perfect match. If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: .starfishanimalrescue/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $550 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
