His adoption fee is $950. If you are still interested, please read more below. Emmett is a sweet, cuddly puppy with lots of love to give. He is a little shy at first, but once he feels comfortable, he quickly warms up and shows his silly personality. He loves to explore his new surroundings and to play with his toys. He is calm, affectionate, and gentle with kids. Emmett loves to be a part of whatever is going on around him and to be close to his humans. Emmett gets along with the other dog and cats at his foster home, and he is making good progress with his housetraining. He loves a soft lap and a gentle tummy rub. If you are looking for a puppy that will become a great family dog, Emmett is the one! This pup is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and neutered. The new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Please note ARF does not approve applications for any puppy under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
