Description
Dog Breed: Terrier. Meet Bullet, a sweet soul who’s been through far too much and desperately needs a helping hand. This poor boy came into the shelter covered in fleas and clearly uncomfortable, but our amazing volunteers gave him a much-needed bath and some gentle care. His teeth are worn down, and he seems to be in pain—though we haven't received any medical records to know exactly what’s going on. Because of his condition, we haven’t introduced him to other animals yet, as he’s just not feeling his best. What we do know is that Bullet needs out of the shelter now so he can get the vet care, comfort, and love he deserves. If you can foster, adopt, or are with a rescue willing to help, please reach out—Bullet is counting on us.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
