Dog Breed: Akita / Terrier / Mixed. Lizzy is a large, lovely lady who’s carrying a few extra pounds—but hey, that just means there’s more of her to love! At heart, she’s a gentle soul looking for the right family to help her blossom. Lizzy came to us after her owner could no longer care for her, and when she first arrived, she was pretty shut down—scared, unsure, and overwhelmed by all the changes in her world. The shelter can be a loud, busy place, and it’s been hard for sweet Lizzy to fully relax. That’s why she’s staying in our quieter intake dorm, where she feels a little more comfortable as she waits for her forever home. Every day, Lizzy is making progress—growing a bit braver, a bit more trusting, and showing us glimpses of the wonderful companion she’s meant to be. She’s also great with other dogs, and we think having a canine buddy could help her confidence grow even faster! We truly believe Lizzy will shine in a calm, loving home where she can take things at her own pace and leave the stress of shelter life behind.
