Dog Breed: Unknown breed (medium coat). Hi, I’m Bruno! I’m a sweet, spunky boy with a tail that never stops wagging! I love being around my people — whether we’re hanging out on the couch or just moving around the house, I’ll be close by. I’ve got a silly personality (I’ve been told I’m pretty funny), and I’m a big fan of cuddles… even if I am a little bigger than your average lap dog! At first, I can be a little shy, but I warm up quickly once I know you’re safe. If you sit on the couch, I’ll be right next to you — or even in your lap if you’ll let me! I’m house-trained, know how to sit, and I’m super well-mannered. I bark just a little here and there, but I respond to gentle correction really well. I’m great with other dogs, kids, and adults. I walk great on a leash and I’m totally non-reactive on walks — just happy to cruise alongside you. I also love car rides. I’ll hop in, curl up in the back, and snooze like a champ. Oh — and I’m neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all my vaccines. So I’m totally ready to go home… maybe with you? A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
