Description
Dog Breed: Schnauzer / Mixed. Meet Dolly, who’s ready to leave her tough past behind and step into a brighter future. At just 4 years old and about 25 pounds, Dolly’s size may be small, but her heart is enormous. She and Holly spent their earliest months fending for themselves on the streets of Albania before being rescued and placed in a shelter. For three long years, Dolly waited patiently for a family—something that’s incredibly rare in her home country where resources and adopters are limited. That’s why we knew we had to help and bring her here, where she finally has a chance to find the loving home she deserves. Dolly is a gentle, affectionate dog who loves meeting new people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. While she and Holly do share a special bond and can be adopted together, Dolly can also thrive on her own—though she will need another canine companion in the home to help her build confidence and feel secure. She’s healthy, spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. After waiting so long, Dolly is eager to start the next chapter of her life with a family who will cherish her forever.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
