We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) . Meet Atom: 12-Week-Old Male | Heeler Mix Atom may be small, but his heart is already full of love—and his curious spirit is just beginning to shine. At only 10 weeks old, this handsome heeler mix is soaking in the world one tail wag at a time, with his nose leading the way and his people always close behind. Atom is food-motivated, people-focused, and delightfully inquisitive. He’s at that magical puppy stage where every sound is a mystery, every leaf is worth chasing, and every cuddle is the best part of the day. While he’s still learning the ropes of being a polite pup, he’s off to a strong start and eager to please—especially if there are treats involved! As a heeler mix, Atom will thrive in a home that understands or is willing to learn about this smart, driven breed. He’ll need consistency, gentle guidance, and plenty of opportunities to use both his brain and his boundless energy. But what you'll get in return is a loyal companion who’s ready to bond deeply with his person and grow into a loving, devoted dog. If you're ready to raise a sweet pup with a big future, Atom is ready to start his journey with you. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $450 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogsarrcolorado for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: arrcolorado/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
