Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Hi there! I’m Riley and I’d like to tell you about little old me! The vet says I’m around 1-2 years old, and a mixed breed. I'm neutered and up to date on all my vaccinations. I currently weigh about 28 pounds, but could gain some weight. Luckily my foster mom says I love love love treats, and will sit for them (she says I’m the best boy!). I seem to like other smaller doggos, and really don’t care about cats. I am house trained, but I’m not very fond of that crate. But my foster mom says I’m a good boy and haven’t been destructive - even when left in the room by myself. I’m still learning to walk on a leash ( I can pull on walks and sometimes get distracted by small critters). I do have some energy, so plenty of exercise is good for me! While I haven’t been around kids yet, my foster mama says I love people and am very playful. I'm just an all around happy boy and love smiling with my toofers out. What would make me the happiest is a home and family of my very own! I am available for adoption on June 28, 2025 through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA 15144. KL #16182.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
