Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Raven is a 3-month-old, 13lb, blue heeler mix that came in with her siblings Falcon and Robin. She's lovingly called scrappy as though she's the smallest, she outsmarts her siblings. She loves being held and will bury her head in the crook of your neck like it was made for her. Raven is a sweet little pup when snuggling, but don't let her gentle demeanor and small size fool you! When wrestling with her bigger sibs, she is not above getting in a cheap shot or a clever play to stay in the game. When faced with a big barking dog next door, she is at the fence, squeaking back and urging on a race. After a good play, she'll crash hard in a snuggle with her sibs or with a human. Raven isn’t currently fostered with cats, but as a typical heeler mix, she may try to herd them (or anything else that moves!). She's working on house and crate training and will thrive in a home that’s ready to continue her puppy education with patience and consistency. She is spayed, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, and will be available for adoption starting 7/2 through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA KL# 16182.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
