Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Robin is a 3-month-old, 15lb, blue heeler mix that came in with her siblings Falcon and Raven. She is always ready for fun. She is equally likely to be flying across the yard to get her siblings to chase her, or wrestling up close and personal. She was the first to make the jump up onto the patio chair and if her vertical leap is any indication, probably wants to be a super hero when she grows up (or at least an agility master). She is up for play with a dog 5 times her size. After a good romp she's ready to chill, so get your snuggles in then before she revs back up to 100! Robin isn’t currently fostered with cats, but as a typical heeler mix, she may try to herd them (or anything else that moves!). She's working on house and crate training and will thrive in a home that’s ready to continue her puppy education with patience and consistency. She is spayed, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, and will be available for adoption starting 7/2 through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA KL# 16182.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
