Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant. NOTE -PINTO IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR AN INDIVIDUAL ASKING TO REHOME A PET. PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW. Jennyjennyschmidtgmail Pinto is a heeler mix. He came to us as a foster from a terrible, overcrowded shelter in Mexico where he did not get enough food or love. He is a wonderful dog. Big ( 2 feet high at shoulder- not quite Great Dane sized but taller than a lab) and mellow and very loving. He can be shy at first, more so with men, but warms up fast. He loves other dogs and can still play like a pup. We estimate him to be two. He seems to like a home with another dog ( takes cues from his dog friends). We ran his Harry Potter house profile and he’s a Griffin Paw. We’ve had Pinto for a month and a half and he’s thrived being in a family. He is housebroken except for a very rare accident and knows sit and paw. He rarely barks. He loves going for walks and is great on a leash. He does not know “come” yet so haven’t had him off leash. He loves to snuggle and receive belly rubs. Pinto has been through a lot in his short life and needs someone who will be his lifetime buddy. He is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
