He is a male, Chihuahua mix, weighing 11.5 pounds with an incredibly calm, loving, and loyal personality. He looks forward to a nice walk before his foster family goes to work. He enjoys napping with his duck and is happiest when resting beside you while watching Love Island. He will always choose sleeping all snuggled up in bed with you, but is also content in a crate/bed in your room. He’s very easy-going and would be a loving companion and a great travel buddy. Though laid-back, he’s enthusiastic about playing fetch with his favorite toys and bring them wherever he is. He walks very well on a leash, is fully potty-trained, and adapts well to both men, women, and children. He also gets along with other dogs and cats once he feels comfortable. He experiences some isolation anxiety when left alone but with a nice walk to burn off energy he adapts to brief departures and a calm routine. Spike does very well in the car on trips to the vet or the beach. He is neither skiddish or aggressive in public. He does not pull on leash but looks to your for guidance. Spike does have allergies but he can live a good life if precautions are taken to keep him comfortable. Here are precautions we have taken to keep his allergies subdued and medication at a minimum. No walking on dirt/grass; he has been using synthetic turf to take care of business. He eats beef or fish with no grains; his current food is supplied by The Farmer's Dog. Spike's foster mom, sweeps pollen away from outside deck areas. In the interior of the home, she vacuums human dander/dust particles daily with a high quality machine, and has an air purifier. These cleaning tasks are common in many households sensitive to environmental allergies. Spike can benefit from such a household. Spike's allergies will need to be managed/treated throughout his lifetime but with the right home he can live a comfortable life. Spike did live with cats in the past but it is unknown if cat dander caused his allergies to flare. He is currently living with 3 chihuahuas and Spike does well with them. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccines. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application today! All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.
