This sweet angel has clearly had a tough life prior to being rescued as she struggles being around dogs in public areas. At home, she is peaceful, loves to snuggle, rarely barks, and fully house trained. She enjoys her peace & solitude and appreciates lounging and long naps. Sweetie would be best served in a home with a strong alpha owner as she responds well to firm boundaries. As a Terrier mix, she has a strong prey instinct and can pull pretty hard when going on a walk. She loves spending time with her human(s) but also appreciates time alone lounging and napping. Her current foster dad works from home and describes her as the lowest maintenance dog he has ever had…except for her reaction to other dogs…which is a work in progress. Can you give Sweetie the life she deserves? She is spayed, microchipped and current on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application today! All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
