Dog Breed: Poodle (Standard) / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (long coat). Adoption Fee: $599. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 06/14/25 Reason for being in rescue: Found as stray by Good Samaritan and brought to CPR Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Jake is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 06/25/25 Jake had a dental polishing. Jake was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Our best guess is that he is a doodle. We cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. Weight: 54 lbs - Jake is underweight and needs to gain at least 5 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? While we do not think Jake absolutely needs a fence, he is a big boy and would absolutely LOVE a fenced in yard to run around in and soak up the summer sun. What kind of home would be best for me? Jake's the kind of dog who doesn’t need much—just love, a soft place to rest, and a person or family to share it all with. He’s wonderful with other dogs and easy-going in new environments. His calm energy helps him fit in just about anywhere, and he brings a grounding, peaceful presence to any room he walks into. He would do well in a home with children, or not. What is my personality like? If ever there was a dog who embodies the spirit of resilience and quiet strength, it's Jake. With soft eyes, a calming presence, and a heart as big as his paws, Jake is a gentle, laid-back boy who has every reason to be wary of the world—but chooses love instead. Jake came to us as a stray, alone and severely underweight, his ribs sharp against his thin coat. Life hadn’t been kind to him. The streets had left their mark, but not in the way you might expect. Rather than becoming hardened or fearful, Jake greeted each new day with hope. There’s something remarkable about his spirit—how he leans into kindness, how he chooses to trust again, and how he offers love so freely to everyone he meets. And trust us, Jake loves people. He doesn’t care where you’re from or what your story is—if you have a lap to lean on, a kind word to share, or even better, a cheeseburger from McDonald’s (his absolute favorite treat), you’ve made a friend for life. His tail wags a little faster when he sees that crinkly takeout bag, and he’s perfected the art of the “polite sit” in exchange for a bite. It’s those little joys—sunny naps, belly rubs, car rides, and cheeseburgers—that make Jake’s world go round. Jake may have had a rough start, but you’d never know it by the way he loves. He’s not bitter. He’s not broken. He’s a shining example of how love can endure, even through the toughest of times. If you're looking for a dog who will remind you to slow down, take it easy, and appreciate life’s simple pleasures, Jake is waiting for you. With him by your side, every day will feel a little softer, a little warmer, and a lot more full of heart. How do I act when I first meet new people? You’ll be amazed at what one sweet soul can teach you about resilience, forgiveness, and the joy of second chances. And good Ol' American Cheeseburgers! Other tips and tidbits: Because Jake was found as a stray, we are unsure of his exact age. We think he is a young adult, around 3 years old. We've given him a birthdate of 06/14/22. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Labradoodle is a mix between the Labrador Retriever and the Poodle. Both breeds are excellent for children and families. The Labradoodle became known in 1988, when Australian breeder Wally Conron crossed the Labrador Retriever and Standard Poodle at the Royal Guide Dogs Associations of Australia in Victoria. Conron's aim was to combine the low-shedding coat of the Poodle with the gentleness and trainability of the Labrador, and to provide a guide dog suitable for people with allergies to fur and dander. Sultan, a dog from this litter, displayed all the qualities Conron was seeking and worked as a guide dog for a woman in Hawaii for ten years. Although Guide Dogs Victoria no longer breed Labradoodles, they are bred by other guide and assistance dog organizations in Australia and other places. The Association for the Blind of Western Australia has introduced Labradoodles into their training program, and their first, Jonnie, graduated in November 2010. Labradoodles are now widely used around the world as guide, assistance, and therapy dogs as well as being popular family dogs. The Norwegian Royal Crown Prince and Princess own a Labradoodle.
