Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Rat Terrier / Mixed (long coat). Adoption Fee: 550. Walter Doggins is a sweet, gentle soul looking for a patient, loving home to help him feel safe and secure. Found as a stray, Walter is still learning that people can be kind, and while he’s cautious when meeting new faces, he looks to his trusted people for guidance and warms up with a little time. Walter is potty trained with a doggy door but is still learning how to alert when he needs to go out, so he’ll need continued support in this area. He does well in his crate, though he may whine a bit when you first leave or when you come home—he just gets excited to see you and settles down with a treat and some reassurance. Walter can be vocal at times, especially when confined, when people come to the door, or when other dogs are barking. Because of this, a home with a yard rather than an apartment would be best. He would also thrive with someone who is home more often, as he loves to be near his people and would be a lap dog if he could! Walter enjoys the company of other playful dogs but doesn’t require a canine companion if he’s getting plenty of attention and love. He’s affectionate, loyal, and ready to blossom in a calm, steady environment where he can feel secure and loved. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who will be your loyal shadow and warm your lap, Walter Doggins may be your perfect match. Walter Doggins is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on July 12th and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am-Noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
