Dog Breed: Shih Tzu (medium coat). Molly is a friendly girl who isn't about to let a little thing like Lyme Disease slow her down. She is social and friendly with dogs and people and just needs some humans to ensure she gets her meds when she needs them so she can continue living her best, most happy life. Are you ready for a little ray of dog shaped sunshine in your life? OTHER PETS: Molly was interested and appropriate with other dogs, she met a larger dog and a large breed puppy - she would likely also get along with small dogs but none were available to meet her at the time her evaluation was happening. Molly should meet any dog she would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: [First Dog] KIDS: Molly enjoys interacting with humans and has not exhibit resource guarding while at the shelter, but is sensitive about her legs. Her best fit would be with a household that understands NOT to pick up or touch her legs. Any minor humans Molly would be living with should meet her prior to adoption. [7+ (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Molly enjoys stretching her legs and sniffing along as she does so, she is pretty good with loose-leash walking skills and prefers to run around with humans over playing with dog toys. Regular exercise, walks to explore the world, and plenty of mental enrichment will help meet her needs. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: Molly is Lyme Disease Positive and will require veterinary care beyond that of a typical healthy dog. She is also entering her senior years, and will need vet support to age gracefully. A medical contract is part of her adoption package and will detail the care the she requires. [Above Average] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Molly bond with her new owner as well as help her learn important life skills in her new home.
