Dog Breed: Terrier (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 450.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required. About Rosa: Rosa is a gentle, shy 14-month-old Terrier mix looking for a calm and loving forever home. She’s fully vetted, spayed, and microchipped. Rosa is housebroken and well-mannered indoors. She’s scared of other dogs and will need to be the only pet in the household. Rosa may do well with respectful children who can give her the space and kindness she needs to feel safe. This sweet girl is quiet and low-key—perfect for someone who wants a loyal companion to share quiet moments and build trust over time. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
