Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 450. This little gal is Chica, a 4 year old, 10 pound Yorkshire Terrier mix who is seeking a calm household where she can feel safe and loved. She is approved for households with adults or adults with teens. Chica can easily live with other small dogs but she doesn’t appear to need them. She bonds strongly with her people and will follow her foster mom around the house. This sweetie will happily give you kisses, especially if you’re bending over to tie your shoes. Chica had a rough existence prior to rescue. Her foster mom says, “It really seems like she came from a place that was loud and scary and complete chaos for her. I think she just existed there.” Despite that, she is such a sweetheart who needs a calm environment with patient, loving, kind adopters to help her feel safe. She is happy to be with you and spend time with you; she is not interested in playing with toys despite efforts in her foster home. Her foster parents think she was never previously given toys with which to play. She’s a great watch dog - alerting you if someone has come to the door. While in foster care, Chica has learned how to walk on a leash and seems to enjoy spending the time outside. We’d like her to go into a home with a fenced yard for her safety (she enjoys being in the yard) and people home more often. Chica is initially wary of strangers. She is good with other small dogs and with cats. She is housebroken but will also use a potty pad if it’s down. This dog has been examined by licensed veterinarians, provided inoculations, been tested for diseases, dewormed, spayed, and microchipped. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
