Dog Breed: Unknown breed. IN NEED OF LOCAL FOSTER OR ADOPTER / AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT Meet Marty! Please note, he is much cuter than the pictures we have! youtu.be/aVvxv4PShKU Marty is 2 1/2 years old, male (approx. DOB 11-16-22), 45 lbs., vetted, is or will be neutered, and micro-chipped. Marty came into the shelter with another dog, Wrinkles that was adopted a while back, but sadly, Marty did not. Then he spent a lot of time in sick hold and boarding! Marty is affectionate and goofy, tested well with other dogs, know Sit, loves tennis balls, pets, treats, and playtime! Marty would thrive in an active home where he can get the attention, affection, and training he needs. His exuberance is matched only by his desire for fun and love. He has the cutest curly tail! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
