Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Samson is a goofy, high-energy sweetheart who’s always ready for fun and affection! This playful guy loves fetch, long walks, romping with other dogs, and handing out slobbery kisses and big dog hugs. Despite his zest for life, Samson is a quiet companion who just wants to be near his people (or another big dog buddy). He thrives in a home where he won’t be left alone for long, ideally with a fenced yard for zoomies and someone home often to keep him company. Samson sleeps soundly in his crate at night, but during the day, he’s all about love, play, and connection. If you’re looking for an affectionate, active pup to be your shadow and sidekick, Samson might just be your match. Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 11-3 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
