Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Meet Pearl – the pup who really lives up to her name since she is so precious! Pearl and the rest of her SpongeBob SquarePants-themed siblings arrived to PAWS as a litter of 7, and have been learning the ropes ever since. She is currently living in foster care with her sister Plankton, and they are both equal parts snuggly and spunky! Pearl may still be growing, but she’s already shown off that she can be mature, calm, and confident. She absolutely loves to play with her sister Plankton, as well as other dogs, and is always ready to dig, sniff, and fetch the next adventure. Pearl seems like she would love to continue living with another dog in her forever home, and would make an excellent canine companion to anyone looking for their next best friend. This treat-motivated pup is a quick learner and already knows “sit,” “come,” and “leave it”—and she’s eager for more! Though she’s still working on housebreaking, Pearl is great with potty pads and would love to continue her training journey with her new family. She’s a cuddler at heart and loves quality time with her people. Just like the notorious Pearl Krabs, this sweet girl is ready to dive into your world with endless love and energy. Ready to make her your one-of-a-kind treasure? Submit your adoption application today, and you can also follow along for more of Pearl's and & Plankton's adventures on Instagram, phillyfostermama! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
