Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. Meet Jared – The Sweetheart Corso From the euthanasia list in a California shelter to stealing hearts in rescue, Jared is the kind of dog you don’t forget. This smaller Cane Corso is estimated to be between 8 months to a year old, and he’s just freaking adorable. Jared is mellow, calm, and has an old soul kind of vibe that makes you want to sit next to him all day. He’s incredibly dog-friendly and would thrive in a home with another canine companion. He’s also gentle and easygoing enough to do well with children. For someone new to the Corso breed, Jared would be an ideal first-time match—he’s one of the easiest, most agreeable dogs we’ve had in rescue in a long time. Despite the rough start, Jared holds no grudges. He’s the kind of dog who seems to know he got a second chance—and he’s ready to spend it making someone’s home a whole lot happier. Jared is available through Arizona Mastiff Rescue in Phoenix, AZ. We do not ship or transport our dogs. Please visit .azmastiffrescue for more info and to apply.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
