Dog Breed: Great Pyrenees / Akbash / Mixed (medium coat). KACHINA (China) This sweet girl is an Akbash/Great Pyrenees mix. She was born in 2020, making her 5 years. She originally came from a cattle ranch in Nevada, but was reported to have been isolated from the pack of LGDs that they had. In 2022 she found a new home with a family in Somerset, where she was the perfect dog. She roamed freely on 2 acres with 4’ fencing. She was in with ducks, goats, sheep and cats, she was fine with all these farm animals. She also was great with this family's young child. About 4 months after getting her this family moved to Georgetown to a non-fenced 5-acre lot within a housing community with very close neighbors. She began to roam constantly. They built a 4’ then a 6’ fence, but she jumped these fences daily. They tried an electric collar with no success. The family then began to have to tie her up on a long line, but did not feel that was fair so they gave her to an older couple who had much more land that was fenced. She has a history of aggression with female dogs but has been known to play very well with male dogs, if they are not fed together or near each other. Kachina has resource guarding tendencies that make it necessary for her to eat separated from other dogs (preferably where she can't see them while she’s eating.) She has a great appetite and loves her kibble mixed with goat milk and a few sardines (packed in water with no salt) Kachina loves people and everyone who meets her loves her too. She is very good with children, walks perfectly on a leash and travels beautifully in a car. She is very relaxed and content when outside with livestock day and night. She would most likely thrive in a home as a solo LGD on large acreage with very secure fencing
