Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Meet Woodruff- sweet, playful and 100% puppy chaos! Woodruff was surrendered with his littermates from a farm and is now looking for a forever home of his own. As a herding breed, Woodruff is expected to be a high energy, smart dog and will need a home to match! From Woodruff's Foster: Woodruff is a little shy at first, but once he knows someone, he gives them puppy kisses and likes being held. He is very curious and pretty independent. He’s tiny and you have to be careful because he’ll run under your feet. He loves being around people once he knows them. He is very smart and extremely agile. He is also a silly puppy who will do silly things that make you laugh. He is absolutely adorable. To adopt this dog, please complete an Adoption Application. If you would like to foster dogs for us, please complete a Foster Application.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
