Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed. This sweet girl has finished raising her three puppies and is now ready for a forever home of her own! Popcorn is a gentle soul who will need a patient and understanding adopter. New environments can be scary for her, and it will take some time for her to feel safe — but once she does, you’ll see just how special she is. She’s incredibly sweet, playful, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, both big and small. She’s also house trained and loves to romp around the backyard. While she’s still working on her confidence with leash walking, she’s happiest when she has a secure outdoor space to explore at her own pace. Popcorn is looking for someone who can give her the time, space, and love she needs to truly come out of her shell. In return, she’ll give you her whole heart. Popcorn was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances. A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs. Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive. From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs.
