Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 550. Meet Walter, the ultimate Velcro dog who just wants to be loved and adored! Walter is as sweet as they come, and his favorite place in the world is curled up in your lap or sleeping next to you. He will follow you around, eager for affection and attention. Walter came to us with his sister and her puppy, and they make the cutest little family! He plays so well with his family members and gets along with all of the other foster dogs, including larger dogs, so he’d fit into just about any household. While Walter loves being with his people, he does get a little anxious when left alone outside. Walter does great in a crate and is also well-behaved in the car. He’s doing okay on the leash but would benefit from a bit more practice. When you stop petting him, be ready for some gentle persuasion—he’ll lick your hand until you start again! When he’s done something wrong—he’ll lay on his side with his paws in the air, looking so adorably guilty that you can’t help but forgive him. Puppy dog eyes for the win! Walter would thrive in a loving home, perhaps with an older couple or anyone looking for a companion who craves attention and affection. Walter is from Texas. This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease and is available through our Foster-to-Adopt (FTA) program. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. The adopter will be responsible for scheduling the retest and obtaining any follow-up prescriptions through their veterinarian. .heartwormsociety/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics to learn more about heartworm disease.
