This pup's adoption fee is $450. If you are still interested, please read more below. Say hello to Prim! Prim is a curious and sweet 11-pound terrier mix with the cutest curly tail. At just 4 months old, she’s already sleeping through the night and working hard on her potty training skills. Prim is sweet-natured and loves to explore at her own pace. After playtime with her sister (Katniss), you’ll find her snuggled up, ready for a long nap, some hugs, and cuddle time. Prim arrived at ARF with her siblings and parents. If you're looking for a spunky, affectionate pup to join your pack, Prim is the perfect little love. This pup is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and spayed. The new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Please note ARF does not approve applications for any puppy under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
