Lorelai – 2-Year-Old Australian Cattle Dog with a Heart Full of Cuddles Meet Lorelai, a 2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog who’s equal parts adventurer, cuddlebug, and loyal best friend. At about 40 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-sized sidekick for all of life’s adventures—and the snuggles afterward. Lorelai is a sweet, playful girl who loves exploring the world with her people. She’ll happily chase a tennis ball (for a little while—then she’d rather curl up next to you). Loud noises or big crowds can make her feel a bit nervous, but with patience and gentle reassurance, she settles right down. She’s already crate-trained (though she may whine a bit when you leave—she just loves you that much) and is almost fully house-trained, with just the occasional accident as she continues learning. This smart cookie is working on her leash manners—she can pull a bit if she feels overwhelmed, but she’s making great progress. When meeting new people, especially tall men, she may bark at first, but with calm introductions and a few head scratches, she warms right up. Favorite things: Small stuffed toys to carry around Tennis balls to chase (for a few rounds!) Kong toys stuffed with treats Long walks in quieter spots ALL the love and affection Lorelai is a gentle soul who absolutely thrives on connection. She’s happiest when she feels secure and included, so a home that offers lots of affection and consistent reassurance is a must. She would likely enjoy having a friendly dog companion to help boost her confidence. Her Ideal Home: A calm, loving environment with moderate daily exercise A family ready to continue her training with patience and positive reinforcement Possibly another friendly dog buddy Someone who will shower her with cuddles and help her feel safe Lorelai has so much love to give and is ready to find her person (or people) who will adore her gentle, snuggly spirit. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to share your heart and your couch, come meet Lorelai—she can’t wait to love you back. Ready to bring this sweet girl home? Apply today—Lorelai is waiting! If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
