Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. If you’re looking for a hiking pal, walking partner, or backyard fetch champion, Barley might just be your perfect match. This sweet and striking boy is complete with a tan coat, soft fur, and a unique “Batman mask” across his face. Barley is bursting with playful energy and heart. He is a quick learner and very smart, though he’s still working on curbing his enthusiasm (especially the jumping). When he brings the ball back during a game of fetch, he gets so excited about his accomplishment that he sometimes forgets personal space. But it’s all part of his joyful spirit. He gets along wonderfully with other big dogs and absolutely loves to run. Barley also enjoys splashing in the doggy pool, so if you’ve got a pool of your own, be prepared to share! Though he’s gentle by nature, his high energy makes him a better fit for families with older kids who won’t be easily toppled by a happy tail-wagging whirlwind. PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. Adoption fee is $350 and you can adopt me at .polkadogz.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
