Dog Breed: Bulldog / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Capri is a mixed breed dog with probable brachycephalic breeds in her mix (bulldog.) While her snout is definitely more elongated than a typical English Bulldog, she overheats easily and her `smush face` background should not be ignored. OTHER PETS: Capri was eager to greet and interact with dogs. While inside, with a dog of similar size she was snapping at his hind end. While outside, with a larger dog, she was less intense and more relaxed. Capri should meet any potential dog roommates prior to adoption to ensure they are a good match. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone with experience with brachycephalic dogs or someone committed to learning all they need to do to ensure Capri does not overheat would be her best fit. [Some Experience] KIDS: Capri is social and outgoing with people but can be excited taking treats (open hand treat giving is recommended) and is uncomfortable with some handling. [13+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Capri has a lot of energy, but daily walks need to be taken with care as she overheats easily. In the summe months getting creative is important - indoor playtime, night walks, dog pools, and plenty of mental enrichment will help meet all her needs. She would likely enjoy accompanying her humans on adventures as long as care is taken to ensure she stays cool. [Olympic Athlete] VETERINARY CARE: Brachycephalic dogs have a greater likelihood of developing breathing difficulties over the course of their life, they are also more apt to overheat in hot weather and are prone to eye infections, and skin irritation spreads quickly throughout their body. A strong relationship with a vet is recommended to ensure that Capri ages gracefully.
