Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Mazie Marie is a blue eyed beauty who is looking for a new home. Mazie Marie is with our rescue partner in Louisiana. We do offer a foster-to-adopt trial for approved adopters. Mazie Marie was found as a stray pup, all alone, skinny and covered in fleas. She was taken in by our partner rescue and is now doing very well - healthy and happy. Mazie Marie is a sweet girl who loves her people and prefers to be around them all the time. She will cry and wine a bit when alone. Her foster family is working housebreaking and crate training, etc. Mazie Marie is dog friendly and also pretty good with the resident cat but will bark some at her. Mazie Marie is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $550. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
