Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed. Is anyone missing an approximately 2 to 3 year old, male, Yorkie mix? He was found off 30 and Goliad in Rockwall on 07/06/2025 and brought to the shelter on 07/07/2025. No chip, no collar. He will be on stray hold for the next 72 hours to give his owners time to claim him. If he is not reclaimed, he will be available 07/10/2025 by application only. If you recognize him, please call the Rockwall Adoption Center at 972-771-7750 ext 2. All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds.
